About Course

Readiness for Work module

The Readiness for Work modules have been created by the What Works for Me team to give you the skills necessary to start your employment journey. From CV skills to interview preparation, these six bespoke videos will help you understand what you can improve on in order to look for, find, and secure employment. Having completed the modules, you will feel more confident and knowledgeable about what it takes to get a job you love and become a better version of yourself.

 

Module 1 – CV Preparations

This module looks at how to prepare a strong CV for a job application, including the key parts that all CVs must have. Also included are tips and tricks for making your CV stand out from the rest.

Module 2 – Interview Preparations

This module looks at the different ways in which you can perform strongly during a job interview, including tips and tricks on what a recruiter is looking for from a candidate. You will also see how to take the next steps following your interview.

Module 3 – Soft Skills

Soft skills are the interpersonal attributes you need to succeed in the workplace, e.g. communication skills and organisational skills. This module will show you the different soft skills needed in various jobs, and how this will apply to you.

Module 4 – Benefits & Entitlements when working

All the questions and queries you have about Benefits and Work will be answered. We will also explain what you are entitled to in work.

 

Bio:

Marcus Ward works with SBHI as Peer Mentor on the What Works for Me program. He has both spina bifida and hydrocephalus and is a full-time wheelchair user. He has a degree in Spanish and French, and also works as a language teacher. The topic of Spina bifida and employment is important to him and so he has advocated on this issue for several years.

I found the course interesting. I would have liked it to be a bit more interactive. I would've liked to maybe had a mock interview or a cv template to practice on
